French Quarter #3

Fall 2014

“Although featured at Peacock Alley as a cocktail served up, this fine libation would shine with a couple of large ice cubes as well. Either way, the finish remains luxurious. It’s loosely inspired by the Creole Lady, a pre-Prohibition offering. ” Frank Caiafa, beverage manager, Peacock Alley, New York

2 ounces Louis Royer Force 53 cognac
1-1/2 ounces Bordeaux red wine
1/2 ounce Luxardo maraschino liqueur
2 long dashes Peychaud’s bitters
orange peel

Add all liquid ingredients to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir for 50 revolutions. Strain into a chilled glass. Twist the orange peel to release oils into the glass, then add to the drink for garnish.
