Players with ClubCorp connections grab wins at PGA Tour tournaments
BY LOUIS MARROQUIN — Spring 2019
Xander Schauffele, a member at Bernardo Heights Country Club in San Diego, continues to pile up the PGA Tour wins, adding his first victory of the year and fourth career win. He logged his latest at January’s Sentry Tournament of Champions on Maui with a course-record-tying 62 final round, beating 54-hole leader Gary Woodland by a single shot. After starting Sunday six shots behind Woodland, Schauffele racked up an impressive eight birdies and two eagles to earn the trophy.
Cameron Champ, a member at Granite Bay Golf Club in Granite Bay, Calif., snagged his first Tour win in October at the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Miss., just his ninth career Tour event. During the event’s final round, the 23-year-old rebounded from a shaky start marked by back-to-back bogeys, finishing with birdies on five of the last six holes and besting Canada’s Corey Conners by four shots.
