Oceania Insignia’s Fresh Look
What’s new aboard this refurbished ship
BY DON NICHOLS — Spring 2019
ighter, brighter, and more contemporary best describes Oceania Cruises’ refurbished Insignia, which emerged from dry dock in December with a dazzling new aesthetic. The 684-passenger ship’s completely redesigned suites and staterooms look elegant, sophisticated, and more modern, especially with a softer color palette of gray, green, sapphire, and taupe. Public areas feature striking new chandeliers, custom-milled carpets, and reupholstered furnishings. The company’s three other Regatta Class ships will soon get equally dramatic upgrades, with a refurbished Sirena debuting in May, Regatta in September, and Nautica in June 2020. The price tag for this ambitious “re-inspiration” project, as Oceania calls it? $100 million. While on a spending spree, the company also just ordered two new 1,200-passenger ships for delivery in 2022 and 2025 — each costing $650 million.
