Who she is: The 16-year-old actress got her biggest break to date last year when she was cast as Violet, the pregnant, unwed daughter, in the darkly comic CBS sitcom Mom, starring Anna Faris and Allison Janney.
About that role: “I didn’t know Violet was going to be pregnant until right before I booked it. But you’re so close to being on an amazing sitcom with the best writers and producers and such a strong cast, what are you going to say: ‘Sounds good, but think I’ll pass’?”
What makes the show unique: “We’re women-centric, have such an edgy twist, and touch on some sensitive topics. We’re kind of starting a little revolution on TV.”
Forward momentum: She performed in front of audiences as a competitive gymnast and in musical theater productions. Then she moved into the more isolated film medium. Now, working in front of a live studio audience, she says, is “the best happy medium in the world.”
