BY LOUIS MARROQUIN — Summer 2018
Scoop: Awarded for its innovative cruise itineraries at Virtuoso’s 2017 luxury travel awards, Silversea sails to more than 900 destinations — most notably the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and both polar regions — on all seven continents. Ranging in guest capacity from 100 to 608, the company’s nine intimate luxury cruise ships feature all-ocean-view suites, all with butler service and most with private verandas, as well as all-inclusive beverage and dining options throughout each ship and inventive
on-shore excursion opportunities.
What’s new: This year, Silversea introduced its Couture Collection, an assortment of nine custom-designed pre- and post-cruise luxury land tours. The five- to 11-day trips, which average $34,000 per person, include such exclusive perks as private helicopter service in Mongolia and Gulfstream jets in and out of Antarctica, plus top accommodations and immersive cultural experiences. In May, the company reintroduced the Silver Spirit — now 49 feet longer — to its fleet after a monthslong lengthening and renovation that expands public-area capacities and replicates the look of the flagship Silver Muse. Looking to 2020, Silversea has begun booking its first seven-continent world cruise, a 140-day journey that will hit 62 ports
in 32 countries.
